Winter Break Blues

For having an entire month of from school and one of my jobs, I have very little to show for it! It's quite depressing--I will chalk it up to a regroup of my mind and hopefully I'll end up making some awesome art this coming semester! I did start a painting, but it's mournfully sitting in my dining room feeling neglected.

I kind of feel like knitting.

Art Portfolio

So it may seem as though I've been dormant for a while, but really I've been super busy with school! However, I have managed to create some goodies, mostly because they were made in class. Here's my Fall 2010 Introduction to Painting Art Portfolio, plus some extra on-the-side drawings:

I have no current plans for anything right now, just rest! But I'm hoping to continue working on my quilt, maybe finish those dolls, and do some more awesome drawings and paintings!

Until next time,
Lauren

coming soon

Hello! Sorry it's been a while since I've blogged. It's been so crazy going back to school and moving in with Grammy--packing, unpacking, homework--ahh! But I have finished a complete doll! I'll post pictures soon (she's so cute). I've cut out some more too so hopefully when things get settled into some semblance of a routine I'll give a real update.

Yours
Lauren

P.S. I might have some prints of drawings I did a while back available on Etsy soon. They won't be the original pieces but they will be very high quality (and they will be much less expensive than an original!)

Dolls!

I've done it! I've successfully and miraculously made a doll. No, she isn't decorated or clothed yet, but she is a doll! I plan on making dolls of all colors and both boys and girls. The pattern needs a little tweaking, but I hope to be in full doll making mode this week, and will introduce my first line to Etsy as soon as I can.

Lovely cousin Liza with the doll! I think this first one will have her beautiful red hair.

patiently waiting..

I'm waiting very patiently for my new felt to arrive so I can start making....dolls! Stay tuned for more updates. In the mean time I think I've figured out a project for the fluke felt--embroidered cat collars! My lovely feline Miles should make a good test model and embroidered felt is so durable and soft, I think it will be a good alternative to his store bought collar. Check back soon!

Update: I've started an Etsy shop, but there are no items for sale as of yet. Soon, soon!

felt disappointment!

Wollfilz Lichen Felt Bundle from Purl Soho
This is the new felt I got in the mail yesterday! I was sitting at work feeling glum when I was notified that my felt had arrived! My day was sufficiently brightened (and all you craft folks out there completely understand this, right?) Only when I got home and ripped open the package, I realized I had made a huge mistake--I thought the felt pieces were 12x18, and they turned out to be 12x8, so I can't use them for their original purpose. Since I can't return them, I guess I'll just have to figure out something to do with them (hehe). Aren't they pretty (and isn't my mom's flower arrangement pretty? She picked them at a farm down the road.)?

hello world

Hello new readers! Here I am, spreading my wings into the world of crafts. There are so many projects I have in mind, so much inspiration from so many different sources that I just couldn't hold it in any longer--so behold, a blog!

My mission for this blog is to record what types of projects I'm working on (and hopefully finishing--this part was never my strong suit) and where I'm getting my inspiration. I love all forms of handcrafts--sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, weaving, etc. ad nauseum! So bear with me while I experiment with all types of things, and enjoy!

Thank you for visiting and expect updates often!

Best,
Lauren
